BIOGRAPHY

Antoni Orłowski was born in 1998 in the town of Szczecinek in the north of Poland. A laureate of multiple national competitions for young musicians, he went on to study in Switzerland, with Denis Severin (Hochschule der Künste Bern) and Thomas Demenga (Hochschule für Musik FHNW Basel) respectively. He is now based in Vienna, Austria, where he is currently studying with Reinhard Latzko at the University of Music and Performing Arts (mdw Wien).

 

Antoni has attended masterclasses led by some of the most prominent cellists of the day, including Steven Isserlis, Marc Coppey, Nicolas Altstaedt, and Peter Bruns. He has appeared as a soloist with Polish and Austrian orchestras and has given solo and chamber music concerts in Poland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. A keen chamber musician, he has performed with Peter Götzel, Thomas Hajek, Sebastian Führlinger (members of the Vienna Philharmonic) and Christian Altenburger and has been taught by Corina Belcea, first violinist of the renowned Belcea Quartet. He has been performing with Cuore Piano Trio as the ensemble’s official cellist since April 2024. \

 

Antoni served as the principal cellist of the Swiss National Youth Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra of the Vienna Philharmonic Summer Academy, participating in prestigious festivals such as Salzburg Festival, Lucerne Festival and Young Euro Classic at the Konzerthaus in Berlin. He is a member of Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and a member of the orchestra academy program at the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra in Austria. He is also frequently invited to play as a substitute player with prominent Austrian and German orchestras.

 

Antoni is a winner of the 1 st prize at the Musica Goritiensis competition in Gorizia, Italy and Nova Gorica, Slovenia in 2022, as well as a laureate of many national competition. He was also awarded the prize for an outstanding musical personality” during the International Music Festival & Master Class in Piła, Poland in 2016. He plays a copy of Matteo Goffriller’s cello, built by a respected Polish luthier Wojciech Topa in 2017.
