biography

Johanna Vocetková is a cellist born in 2002 in Prague. At the age of six she started to play the cello under the guidance of Kateřina Hroníková. She is a laureate of various national and international cello competitions, such as the International Cello Competition of Jan Vychytil in Prague (numerous awards), the international Talents for Europe competition in Dolny Kubin, Slovakia (first prize), Pro Bohemia competition in Ostrava (first prize), the national competition in Liberec (first prize and the absolute winner title), as well as the David Popper International Cello Competition in Várpalota, Hungary (third prize). She won the solo category at "Jugend musiziert" Competition in finals in Kassel as well.

In 2017 she was accepted to the Prague Conservatory in the class of Jaroslav Kulhan. In 2018, she also became a scholarship holder at the International Music Academy in Berlin, where she studied with Josef Schwab and Wolfgang Boettcher. As part of the academy, she had the opportunity to participate in a number of masterclasses and concerts in various cities across Germany, including Berlin. 

 

Since 2021, she has been a student at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna within a master's programme, where she furthers her studies in the class of Reinhard Latzko. In 2024, pararell to her studies in Vienna, she began Advanced Studies with Jérôme Pernoo in Paris at Pernoo School of Musical Performance. 

She has been a participant of various cello academies and masterclasses where she worked under the guidance of artists such as Jérôme Pernoo, Patrick Demenga, Troels Svane, Peter Bruns, László Fenyő, Marc Coppey, and Torleif Thedéen. In 2022 and 2023, she participated in international masterclasses conducted by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in Slavonice. In 2025 and 2026, she was selected to participate in the International Summer Academy (isa) in Vienna. 

A sought-after chamber musician, Johanna regularly performs chamber music concerts as a member of existing ensembles, as well as during various festivals. She worked with the Trio Dissonanz and the Lironima Quartet in the past; she also performed alongside artists such as Reinhard Latzko or members of the Trio Bohemo numerous times. Her upcoming engagements include appearances at festivals in the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria and Italy. Since 2026, she is the official member of the Vienna-based Cuore Piano Trio.
